Reflections from Steven Bouchey in Rome: Honoring Pope Francis in Local & Global Interviews

Watch Steven Bouchey's recent WNYT NewsChannel 13 interview on mourning Pope Francis just days before their scheduled meeting.

A message from Steven Bouchey:

This week, I had planned a very special trip to Rome for a private meeting with His Holiness, Pope Francis, and to attend Mass at the Vatican. While our scheduled meeting was to take place on Wednesday, the news of his passing transformed the meaning of this visit in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

Though I was unable to meet with him in person, I was still granted the opportunity to take part in a private tour of the Vatican—a powerful and humbling experience that I will never forget. Walking through those sacred halls, especially at such a historic and solemn moment, was both emotional and unforgettable.

This trip was especially meaningful to me after the long year I’ve had—losing my beloved wife, Sue, and undergoing medical treatments. It was meant to be a moment of reflection, peace, and renewal. And while it has become memorable for very different reasons than I originally anticipated, it will remain etched in my heart forever. What a way to cap off such a difficult and transformative year.

While in Rome, I’ve had the honor of sharing my experience through interviews with WNYT Channel 13 and Spectrum News. You can watch the WNYT interview at the link below:
